David Lane: Christians Must 'Bring Our Values to the Public Square'

By    |   Tuesday, 14 Apr 2015 11:28 AM

The proper role of Christianity in politics is to have believers engage the culture through voter registration and get out the vote efforts while ensuring that people of faith "bring our values to the public square," according to David Lane, a political analyst with the American Renewal Project.

"People of faith, nobody's confused that politicians are going to save America, nobody's confused that Wall Street is going to save America," said Lane, who appeared Tuesday on "America’s Forum" on Newsmax TV.

Lane is a born-again Christian who is behind a push to enlist 1,000 evangelical pastors to run for public office across the country.

Lane has not endorsed anyone in the 2016 race for the White House, but said that he’s pleased that the GOP has so many potential candidates who are avowed "men of faith."

"My goal is to try to give access to these people running for president to the constituency, and let the pastors decide who best represents their values — and people that are saying something, that have something to say to the constituency, that the pastors will come in behind them," he said.
