Actor D.B. Sweeney: 'Whiners' Polarizing Politics More Than Ever

The U.S. government power holders have been trading barbs literally left and right over the years and decades, but the battle intensifies with every turn, and protesting an election loss makes you a "whiner," actor D.B. Sweeney told Newsmax TV.

"It seems like we swing back and forth from left to right, but it seems like the rancor intensifies in each cycle," Sweeney, writer, director and actor for over 30 years, told Friday's "The Steve Malzberg Show."

Sweeney, who plays an affable pastor, Allen Richardson, in the Christian movie "The Resurrection of Gavin Stone" which was released on Inauguration Day — was appalled by protests of the new regime before President Donald Trump could truly get to work on America.

"I don't know, it's hard for me to understand people that want to get out there and protest on the first day we elect a new guy," Sweeney told host Steve Malzberg. "Whether or not your person wins or loses, give him a chance.

"When I played sports, if you lose the game, and then you complain, that makes you a sore loser. That doesn't make you protester — that just makes you a whiner."

Sweeney added he is not against protesting, but doing it before President Trump ostensibly takes office is not taking "care of the republic."

"I'm sure that President Trump will do plenty of things that people don't like, plenty of things people do like, and the people who don't like it, at that point, certainly take advantage of your rights and protest it — and try to seek change or do whatever you want," Sweeney said.

"But the idea that all these people came out as soon as he was elected — especially Hollywood people — because seven years ago he was on a top-rated show, and he was making money for everybody.

"He was one of us."
