Corey Lewandowski: Trump Is 'Greatest Brander' in US History

President Donald Trump is a "blue collar billionaire" whose gift for "articulating things at the most simplistic level" and social media use "revolutionized the way people campaign," Corey Lewandowski told Newsmax TV on Thursday.

The president's first campaign manager and co-author of "Let Trump Be Trump" told "The Joe Pags Show" his former boss is "the greatest brander our country has ever seen."

"When you think of Lyin' Ted and Little Marco and Crooked Hillary, all of the other names, the term of Fake News, which he coined, and so many others, he is so good at articulating things at the most simplistic level that people instantly grasp what he's talking about," he said.

"They can understand it, and that's why he was so successful during the presidential campaign, because he was bold, he was brash, he acts like a blue collar billionaire . . .

"He eats McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken and pizza like everybody else does, and he took that message to the American people and it gave rise to 10, 20, 30,000 people turning out to see him at these rallies across the country. And what he started was truly a movement, and it was an amazing thing to see."

Lewandowski also praised the president's Twitter habit as a stroke of genius.

"What this candidate did as a 70-year-old and now a 71-year-old president, he mastered social media," he said. "His social media activity revolutionized the way people campaign. Between his Twitter followers, Facebook, Instagram, the whole thing, he can reach out and bypass the mainstream media and fight back against the false narrative."

And the mainstream media "hate it," he added.

"He took all their power away," he said. "Because he goes directly to the people. The mainstream media, the elitists, the people in the ivory tower of higher education, the globalists, they hate the fact that Donald Trump goes directly to the people with the message that they don't agree with."

Lewandowski also said when his campaign gained steam, more people wanted him to tone it down — but Lewandowski and others close to Trump advised him to stay the course.

"What we said was, 'sir, don't change, don't ever change,'" he said. "'What we want you to do is be the same person. Be you and you will be successful. If you change and you turn into the same vanilla candidate that every other Republican has run, then you're going to lose.'"

"And he didn't want to do that."
