Hillary Clinton's angry outburst at the House Select Committee on Benghazi spotlights a "lack of accountability and transparency" that is being shown by her and the State Department on the issue, ex-Navy SEAL Brandon Webb tells
Newsmax TV.
"My big problem with Hillary and the Department of State where Benghazi is concerned is there is just no accountability," Webb told "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner Monday.
"When I was in the Navy and the SEAL teams, if someone made a mistake that cost people's lives or equipment was lost, people were relieved of command. At the Department of State, nobody was fired or held accountable for their jobs and for her to look the American people in the eye and say that she did nothing wrong just really shows me her true character. Just point at the emails that she was using – emails on a personal phone."

When Berliner said to him that Hillary labeling the "deaths in Benghazi" as political has "got to get under your skin," Webb, the author of
"Benghazi: The Definitive Report," replied:
"It does. The problem is it is politics. She knows exactly what she's doing…. The fact is she used her personal email for classified, that held classified information. If anyone or myself or my friends would've done that holding a secret or top secret clearance in the military, we would've lost our jobs and lost our security clearances.
"To me it's 'hey you're running for the highest office in this country and you better believe that that's fair game,'" he continued. "Especially where Benghazi is concerned. When we covered it on the news site that we run, SOFREP.com, we had a State Department source that witnessed her chief of staff coaching people before they went into the accountability review board hearings.
"The lack of accountability and transparency and to see her just kind of shrug it off as just political is outrageous. "
Ian Tuttle, the William F. Buckley Jr. fellow in political journalism at the National Review Institute, noted that Democrats were going to continue to try to exploit the
comment made last week by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy to score political points.
"We put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee," McCarthy, a California Republican who is vying to replace John Boehner as House Speaker, said in a Fox News interview. "What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she's untrustable."
"The thing to remember though is this committee, the Select Committee, is largely responsible for uncovering the private email server and has been sort of spearheading that in relation to Benghazi," Tuttle said.
"We've already gotten some bombshell revelations out of this committee and I would suspect that there would be more. Republicans just need to hunker down and push back against this and remind voters, remind those who might be skeptical that there are good reasons to believe that there's more here that meets the eye so far.
