Retired LAPD Cop to Rioters: Get Ready to Regret What You Did

The thugs who ran wild through Baltimore — looting stores, torching cars, hurling bricks and injuring dozens — will live to regret the damage they inflicted, retired LAPD Sgt. Cheryl Dorsey told Newsmax TV.

"These young people and those others that were part of that mix were very frustrated," Dorsey, author of "Black & Blue: The Creation of a Manifesto," said Tuesday to Ed Berliner on "MidPoint."

"And they were acting out in a way that I promise you next week, when they can't go to CVS and get that prescription because they cleared the aisles and they removed necessary items, they're going to be thinking twice about was that really a smart move."

The rioting exploded on Monday, just hours after thousands mourned the death of Freddie Gray, an African American man who died from a severe spinal injury he suffered after being placed under police custody.

Some say Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake gave rioters permission to engage in violence when she said the city "gave to those who wished to destroy space to do that...."

They believe that, in effect, told police to stand down.

Dorsey said the city should have been "more aggressive" with the rioters.

"Those officers were doing exactly what they were told to do, they stood down and then things got out of hand. Once it was out of hand, you couldn't get that horse back in the barn," she said.

"It was a small minority and I also saw several people that were trying to do the right thing, but be clear, what they did yesterday had nothing to do with Freddie Gray, it had nothing to do with respecting his family.

"They didn't honor that young man's death and it had nothing to do with what we really need to get to the bottom of."
