President Donald Trump made a mistake with his Charlottesville comments Tuesday, former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg told Newsmax TV, but "he's going to dig in."

"He responded to a reporter's question," Nunberg told hosts Bill Tucker and Ellis Henican Wednesday on "Newsmax Now."

"The president feels he didn't do anything wrong with that first statement he gave, as he said he wanted to hear all the facts and see what happened.

"I think he's going to dig in," Nunberg continued. "He's going to say this is not right: That they're taking what I've said out of context.

"He made a mistake with that response he gave," he added. "A reporter asked him a question.

"All he had to say was: 'I stand by both comments, the Justice Department is looking into this, and let's move on.'"
