Iconic singer Woody Guthrie, who will posthumously receive the President's Award at the 2016 Americana Music Awards this month, in honor of his legacy and influence on American music and numerous other genres, once lived in a Brooklyn apartment owned by Donald Trump's father, Fred, it has been revealed.

CNN reports in December 1950, Guthrie signed his lease of the new apartment, but hated the neighborhood as he viewed it "as a hostile environment toward people of color" and put the blame solely on Senior Trump.

"I suppose Old Man Trump knows just how much racial hate he stirred up," Guthrie wrote in one of his notebooks, reports CNN.

According to a CNN report, Will Kaufman, a professor at University of Central Lancashire wrote that the elder Trump embraced the Federal Housing Authority's guidelines promoting racial segregation, leading an unwitting Guthrie into the "lily-white neighborhood" he would come to loathe.

Fred Trump made a fortune during that time not only through the construction of public housing projects but also through putting them on lease.

When Guthrie first signed his lease, it's unlikely that he was aware of the murky background to the construction of his new home, the massive public complex that Trump had dubbed "Beach Haven."

CNN notes Guthrie's neighborhood and surroundings triggered his hatred towards his landlord, which reflected in his writings.

"No, no, no. Old man Trump. Old Beach Haven ain't my home," wrote Guthrie in an apparent adaption of his song, "I Ain't Got No Home."

Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land" is one of his most iconic works of the 20th century American protest scene.

Almost 50 years after his death, one cannot be sure what he would have to say about the current presidential candidates. But one thing we can be assured of is Woody would certainly not have good things to say about senior Trump's heir.
