President Barack Obama's senior adviser Valerie Jarrett is behind the leak of Hillary Clinton's private email server,
best-selling author Ed Klein writes in the New York Post.
Klein quotes unnamed sources as saying that the leak is part of an ongoing feud between the Clinton and Obama camps and that the White House fears Clinton would compromise with Republicans if elected president and undo parts of Obama's legacy.
On Saturday,
Klein told renowned economist Larry Kudlow that the Obama administration "is up to its eyebrows in efforts to stop" Hillary Clinton from running for the White House — including six investigations launched by Jarrett involving Clinton's years as Secretary of State.
"This administration, the Obama administration, will do virtually anything to prevent Hillary from becoming president," Klein told Kudlow on his WABC radio show. Kudlow is also a Newsmax columnist and works for NBC's business channel, CNBC.
"It's their view that if she does become president — like her husband, Bill — she will govern from the left of center and not be a true liberal," Klein said, "and will, therefore, compromise with Republicans like Bill did when he was in office, and will undo a lot of the Obama legacy.
The six separate investigations at the State Department include looks into Clinton's expense account, how funds were spent, details of her contact with foreign leaders and possible improper links of her office to the Clinton Foundation, according to the Post.
Jarrett reportedly leaked information about the private email address and server
through sources outside the White House to avoid tying it to the administration.
Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, believe the White House is behind the leaks, Klein reports a friend of Bill Clinton as saying.
"My contacts and friends in newspapers and TV tell me that they’ve been contacted by the White House and offered all kinds of negative stories about us," Bill Clinton reportedly said. "The Obamas are behind the email story, and they’re spreading rumors that I’ve been with women, that Hillary promoted people at the State Department who’d done favors for our foundation, that John Kerry had to clean up diplomatic messes Hillary left behind.
"The Obamas are out to get us any way they can," Bill Clinton reportedly said.
Jarrett vowed payback against Hillary Clinton after the 2014 midterms, Klein wrote, because Clinton had turned congressmen, senators and governors against Obama, and that is why they didn't want him to campaign with them.
Clinton's post-midterm meeting with Obama reportedly also was attended by Jarrett and first lady Michelle Obama. Clinton was told Obama would remain neutral in the Democratic primary, Klein reported.
"With Obama’s approval, Valerie has been holding secret meetings with Martin O’Malley [the former Democratic governor of Maryland] and [Massachusetts Sen.] Elizabeth Warren," Klein quoted one source. "She’s promised O’Malley and Warren the full support of the White House if they will challenge Hillary for the presidential nomination."
Hillary Clinton came under intense scrutiny last week after it was reported that she used a personal email address exclusively while secretary of state and that the email address was held on a private server she maintained in her Chappaqua, New York home.
That put the emails exclusively under her control, raising suspicion that she could have deleted any email she found embarrassing before turning the rest over to the State Department.
In a Tuesday press conference she insisted the only purpose for the email was convenience to avoid having to carry two phones – one for official email and one for personal. She said she has turned over all official email, deleted personal email and won't turn the server over to a third party because it contains private communication.
