U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner Chris Magnus recently sent an email to all CBP agents, warning of potential domestic violence against law enforcement officials, due to the "false perceptions that the U.S. Government in not working to maintain security along the US-Mexico border," according to a Breitbart News sourced report.
The source for Breitbart's report came from within the Border Patrol staff.
Also, Magnus reportedly referenced the Department of Homeland Security's National Terrorism Advisory System bulletin from June, when stating, "Some domestic violent extremists have expressed grievances related to their perception that the U.S. government is unwilling or unable to secure the U.S.-Mexico border and have called for violence to stem the flow of undocumented migrants to the United States."
Magnus' email continued: "We assess that there is increased risk of domestic violent extremists using changes in border security-related policies and/or enforcement mechanisms to justify violence against individuals, such as minorities and law enforcement officials involved in the enforcement of border security."
Through its source, Breitbart News reports that Magnus' letter had a "stinging effect" on the Border Patrol agents' morale, given how the CBP personnel lack the resources to effectively patrol various (illegal) entry points at the U.S-Mexico border.
As such, according to the source, Border Patrol agents don't have enough time or personnel to perform "conventional" duties.
In July, Newsmax chronicled how Border Patrol agents have been overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of illegal crossings at two specific points: the Rio Grande Valley and Del Rio sectors.
According to information obtained from Border Patrol officials and published through Breitbart News (covering July), human traffickers were using the chaos at the U.S.-Mexico border to funnel large groups of migrants through the Rio Grande Valley and Del Rio sectors, knowing CBP agents wouldn't have enough manpower to thoroughly vet each unlawful crossing.
For the Fourth of July weekend in the Rio Grand Valley Sector, CBP agents encountered three large groups totaling 403 migrants. The breakdown: 195 family units, 52 unaccompanied minors, and 156 single adults.
Before that, covering a five-day period, Rio Grand Valley Sector Texas agents dealt with eight more large groups totaling nearly 1,200 migrants.
On June 28 in the Del Rio Sector, border agents had to process three more sizable groups over a six-hour period.
The groups reportedly totaled 675 migrants and included citizens of Bolivia, Chile, Cuba, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Iran, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, and Venezuela.
Also, last Sunday, Breitbart reports that more than 2,000 migrants were apprehended in the Del Rio/Eagle Pass sector. The vast majority were subsequently released to pursue asylum claims.
Since October, CBP officials say they've been involved in nearly 500,000 got-aways at the southern border.
And as of July, with two months still left in the 2021-22 fiscal year, Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 1.8 million migrants, already breaking the agency's previous record.
