The United States dropped one spot to No. 8 on a "Best Countries" ranking put together by U.S. News and World Report.

The news outlet ranked Switzerland as the top country in the world, thanks in part to its wealth and $60,374 GDP per capita.

The U.S. fell from the seventh spot, and U.S. News and World Report blamed President Donald Trump.

"The reasons for America's drop — the second straight year its ranking dipped — are fueled by the world's perceptions of the country becoming less progressive and trustworthy, more politically unstable, and a president who after just a year in office is far more unpopular than any other head of state or company CEO," the news outlet wrote.

The website pointed to Trump's decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Paris climate agreement, his comments critical of NATO, and his verbal spat with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

There is no mention of America's booming economy, low unemployment, or tax reform in the report.

The top 10 countries on the list:

  1. Switzerland
  2. Canada
  3. Germany
  4. United Kingdom
  5. Japan
  6. Sweden
  7. Australia
  8. United States
  9. France
  10. Netherlands
