House Speaker John Boehner on Wednesday demanded congressional committees investigate whether Planned Parenthood engages in the ghoulish practice of selling organs from aborted fetuses.

"Nothing is more precious than life, especially an unborn child. When anyone diminishes an unborn child, we are all hurt, irreversibly so. When an organization monetizes an unborn child – and with the cavalier attitude portrayed in this horrific video – we must all act. As a start, I have asked our relevant committees to look into this matter," Boehner said in a statement.

Boehner also called on President Obama and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell to denounce "these gruesome practices."

Boehner's statement comes a day after an anti-abortion group circulated a video it secretly made showing a Planned Parenthood official discussing the disposal of body parts from aborted fetuses, The Hill Reports.

The undercover video, produced by an anti-abortion group called The Center for Medical Progress, displays Planned Parenthood's senior director for medical services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, bragging about the technique in which they abort babies to enable them to later sell their body parts and organs for profit.

"We've been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I'm not gonna crush that part," Nucatola tells actors posing as organ traffickers. "I'm gonna basically crush below, I'm gonna crush above, and I'm gonna see if I can get it all intact."

Story continues below video.

Planned Parenthood has said the video was heavily edited. It says the organization legally helps women who want to donate their fetus' organs for scientific research, and says it does not profit by donating the organs to science.

On Tuesday, the video's release was a factor as GOP leaders postponed a House vote on a bill creating a commemorative coin aimed at raising money for breast cancer research.

Conservative lawmakers were angered because one of the groups that would have received the research money is the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation. It has affiliates that finance breast cancer services at some local Planned Parenthood clinics.

Following the release of the secret video, Planned Parenthood's public relations firm, Camino Public Relations, stated in a background document that harvesting the organs and body parts of aborted babies is a "humanitarian undertaking," The Weekly Standard reports.

Elizabeth Toledo, the president of Camino Public Relations says that the process isn't as gruesome as most suggest, but rather a process that can help save lives.

While the "Backgrounder" claims that "the promotional video mischaracterizing Planned Parenthood's mission and services is made by a long time anti-abortion activist that has used deceptive and unethical video editing," GOP leaders such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), as well as several other Republican presidential candidates, have called for probes into the claims.

Camino states that rather than selling the body parts and organs for profit, Planned Parenthood will "donate" human remains to for-profit and non-profit entities.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry Tuesday slammed Planned Parenthood after California anti-abortion activists released a video showing a top organization official discussing the sale of body parts from aborted fetuses.

"The video showing a Planned Parenthood employee selling the body parts of aborted children is a disturbing reminder of the organization's penchant for profiting off the tragedy of a destroyed human life," the former Texas governor said in a statement.

"It is because of stories like this that I signed legislation defunding Planned Parenthood in the state of Texas — to protect human life and the health and safety of Texans."
