President Donald Trump took a few minutes of his working vacation Monday to slam the mainstream press and to continue his attacks on Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., over his lack of service in Vietnam.

Trump's first tweet took on "The Fake News Media," saying it will not cover the importance of the U.N. Security Council's unanimous vote to place tougher sanctions on North Korea.

CNN's D.J. Judd tweeted his network was covering North Korea's reaction just as Trump was hitting the "Send" button on his tweet:

And MSNBC's Hallie Jackson said her show led with the story:

But Trump was not through with the big media, returning to a longstanding row with the "failing New York Times."

It was not clear what sparked Trump's current swipe at The Gray Lady, though his dustup with Sen. Blumenthal is a bit more clear: Blumenthal earlier Monday warned of a "firestorm" if Trump fires FBI special counsel Robert Mueller over his Russia investigation.

Trump tweeted about Blumenthal's statements in the past that made it sound like he had served in Vietnam. The New York Times story in 2010 showed Blumenthal actually sought several deferments before joining the Marine Reserve where he spent the war years conducting "drills and other exercises and focused on local projects, like fixing a campground and organizing a Toys for Tots drive."

Though Trump had already slammed Blumenthal earlier Monday online as a "phony Vietnam con artist," he added one more insult Monday afternoon:
