White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci tweeted late Thursday he "made a mistake in trusting a reporter" when he lashed Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon in a profane tirade that ended up in The New Yorker.

Here's his post:

It came three hours after he first took to Twitter regarding Ryan Lizza's report:

Scaramucci called Lizza on Wednesday night to slam Priebus, the White House chief of staff, and chief strategist Bannon.

The New Yorker's Washington correspondent had tweeted earlier Scaramucci had dinner at the White House with President Donald Trump, Fox News host Sean Hannity, and former Fox executive Bill Shine.

Scaramucci afterward ripped Priebus on Twitter, threatening to call out the FBI and the Justice Department over what he said was a leak of his personal financial information.

The data, reported by Politico, came from financial disclosure form that can be obtained through regular channels from the Export-Import Bank, where he worked as a senior vice president.

Trump hired Scaramucci last week. He officially begins Aug. 15.

The move prompted Sean Spicer to resign as head of the White House press operation.
