North Carolina police have issued an arrest warrant for assault on a 69-year-old female protester outside a Donald Trump rally in Asheville, according to The Washington Post.

The arrest warrant is for Richard L. Campbell of Edisto Island, S.C. in connection with the assault, according to The Post.

The protester was wearing an oxygen tank for COPD treatment. A man allegedly punched her as she was protesting Trump. The Post released a video of the crowd's reaction after the incident.

The woman who was punched, Shirley Teter, described herself as a "life-long protester" in an interview with North Carolina TV station WLOS-TV.

"Why did I get involved yesterday, at my age? Because I ran into another situation that was sickening to my heart," she said.

Teter got punched in the face after she told a man, "You better learn to speak Russian," referencing Trump's kind words for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"He stopped in his tracks, turned around, and cold-cocked me." She fell on her oxygen tank, and has sore ribs, a sore jaw, and a cut on her elbow. In the TV interview, she thanked those who showed concern for her on social media.

One witness, Matt Price, told The Citizen-Times that he heard a "metal clank" when her oxygen tank hit the ground.

"Then a little eruption ensued and some people chased down that guy and there was a little heated moment right there before the cops stepped in," Price said.

Teeter spoke to the Citizen-Times at Café 64 in Asheville. The store's manager, Jared Dixon, said, "She's such a sweet lady. She's like our mascot."

Police at the rally reported making five other arrests in connection with scuffles in and around the rally. Protesters repeatedly interrupted Trump's speech.

In one incident, a man pushed and grabbed male protesters and swatted at a female protester, the Post reported.
