New York’s incoming Attorney General Letitia James said she intends to launch far-reaching investigations into President Donald Trump, his family and any others associated with him who may have broken the law.

Her comments came in an interview with NBC News

"We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well," said James, a Democrat.

She disclosed her investigations will include looks into the president’s New York real estate holdings, the 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian official and any potential illegalities regarding the Trump Foundation.

"We want to investigate anyone in his orbit who has, in fact, violated the law," James said.

"Taking on President Trump and looking at all of the violations of law I think is no match to what I have seen in my lifetime.”

Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told NBC News that the president has "considerably more vulnerability" when faced with New York state probes. Dershowitz said Trump can't hold out the offer of pardons or fire investigators.

However, he noted James’ investigations would be limited to matters taking place before Trump was president.

James was elected last month. She will take office on Jan. 1, according to Newsday.
