President Donald Trump on Friday emphatically denied knowing about the infamous 2016 meeting with Russian officials at Trump Tower, tweeting "I did not know of the meeting with my son, Don Jr."
CNN reported that Trump's former lawyer and longtime "fixer" Michael Cohen is prepared to tell Robert Mueller that the president knew about the meeting in advance.
The president also slammed the ongoing "rigged witch hunt," Mueller's Russia investigation, over the news that the special counsel is now examining the president's tweets for evidence of obstruction.
The president's Twitter tirade comes in the aftermath of a New York Times report Thursday that Mueller's team informed the Trump legal team that they want to question the president about tweets aimed at Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former FBI chief James Comey.
Specifically, Mueller is looking at whether the dozens of tweets slamming the pair as it relates to the Russia probe constituted intimidation and/or pressure to back off the investigation into collusion.
Comey's firing also plays into the examination of the president's tweets.
