President Donald Trump railed Monday against calls from Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, for his impeachment, saying that Democrats can't win the election fairly and that a president can't be impeached for creating "the best economy in our country's history."
“'Democrat Texas Congressman Al Green says impeachment is the only thing that can prevent President Trump from re-election in 2020,'" he tweeted early Monday.
"In other words, Dems can’t win the election fairly. You can’t impeach a president for creating the best economy in our country’s history. Also, there are “'No High Crimes & Misdemeanors,'" he continued. "No Collusion, No Conspiracy, No Obstruction. ALL THE CRIMES ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE, and that’s what the Dems should be looking at, but they won’t. Nevertheless, the tables are turning!"
Over the weekend, Green once again called for Trump's impeachment, telling MSNBC that Congress has a "duty" to take action, and if it doesn't, Trump will be reelected.
"He will say the Democrats had an overwhelming majority in the House and they didn't take up impeachment," said Green. "He will say that we had a constitutional duty to do it if it was there, and we didn't. He will say he's been vindicated."
