Former President Donald Trump referenced the recent killing of a Georgia woman by repeating his call for the death penalty when an illegal migrant is found guilty of murder.
The man accused of killing 25-year-old Minelys "Mimi" Rodriguez-Ramirez last week was reported to be living in the U.S. illegally, according to The Northeast Georgian.
Trump, the Republican presidential candidate opposing Vice President Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s election, has made the southern border migrant crisis under the Biden-Harris administration a key issue in his campaign.
Trump mentioned Rodriguez-Ramirez during his Sunday night rally in Macon, Georgia.
"Mimi Ramirez-Rodriguez was kidnapped and murdered by an illegal alien — leaving behind a 9-year-old girl. I met her grieving mom Carmen tonight in Georgia. With your vote Tuesday, we will end Kamala’s invasion, and we will not allow illegals to spill one more drop of American blood," Trump posted on X Sunday night with video from his rally.
The dead woman’s mother, Carmen Ramirez, spoke at the rally.
"I lose my daughter but I don’t lose my faith," Ramirez said. "I know Donald Trump is the best choice for the USA. And not [just] the best choice, he’s the only one we need to protect our country.
"I have a 25-year-old daughter with a lot of life and somebody stopped her life. And we have to stop with this and keep going with Donald Trump."
Last month, Trump announced a planned Operation Aurora if he wins the White House. Under the initiative, any migrant who kills an American citizen or a law enforcement officer would be subject to the death penalty.
In August, Trump called for the death penalty for drug dealers to help combat the effects of becoming a "drug-infested nation."
The former president made the comments during a speech at a rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He said a drug dealer in the U.S. kills 500 people, on average, over the course of dealing fentanyl and other dangerous drugs.
"So a drug dealer kills 500 people. And the only thing they would understand would be the death penalty. If you had the death penalty for drug dealers, you wouldn't have any more drugs," Trump told the crowd.
