President Donald Trump encouraged people on Sunday not to hoard supplies even as more states placed restrictions on the populace in an attempt to contain the coronavirus, Fox News reported.
“There's no need to hoard” supplies, the president said during a White House briefing after discussions with heads of food suppliers: “You don’t have to buy so much, take it easy, just relax.”
Trump assured the country that supermarkets would stay open during the crisis and that the supply chain remains in good shape.
He emphasized that companies are working around the clock to keep their stores stocked, saying there are no shortages and that executives are committed to their stores staying open during the crisis.
Continuing in his attempt to try to put a positive spin on the pandemic, Trump added: “We’re doing great, it all will pass.”
Vice President Mike Pence urged people to purchase only the groceries they needed for the week ahead.
