Democrats "just simply aren't in a place to work with" President Donald Trump, Kayleigh McEnany, national press secretary for the Trump campaign and Republican National Committee spokesperson, told Newsmax TV on Thursday.
McEnany said Trump "works hard" and "can work across the aisle; we saw that with criminal justice reform; we've seen that with his multiple overtures on infrastructure, on bringing down the cost of prescription drugs.
"But, sadly, Democrats just simply aren't in a place to work with him," she told "National Report." "It took them more than a year to pass the U. S.-Mexico-Canada agreement, the USMCA, which was a huge win for farmers, a huge win for manufacturers, but [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi stalled it."
She went on to say, "the left appears far more interested in impeachment."
"In fact they've indicated impeachment number two, a few elected officials have indicated," she added. "So, they are out to take down this president, that's their one mission, and it's unfortunate for the American people."
McEnany said the trial and subsequent acquittal "doesn't seem" to have hurt the president's support.
She noted, at a rally in New Jersey last week, "we had 2,000 people, more than that probably, sleeping out overnight, before the rally, in 40-degree weather. That was in a blue state."
McEnany said, "this is a president who has a huge tailwind at his back of Democrat obstruction, and recognition of the contrast between impeachment and obstruction in progress and achievement, which is what this president has done."
