Time’s 2017 “Person of the Year” shortlist has been unveiled, with President Donald Trump, Robert Mueller and Kim Jong Un as three of the 10 candidates considered to be this year’s top influencer.

The tradition began in 1927 and Time has been acknowledging the person or group of people who has had the most influence on current news each year ever since.

That person – or thing – will be announced Wednesday morning.

The shortlist of top ten candidates for 2017 includes several personalities who have been embroiled in controversy and scandal. Here’s a look at those 10 personalities.

1. President Donald Trump – Last year Trump was made Time’s 2016 Person of the Year. This year he was announced as a candidate two weeks after boasting about turning the official title down, NBC reported. In a tweet, Trump said Time informed him that he would likely be their 2017 title winner, provided he agreed to an interview and photo shoot.

“I said probably is no good and took a pass,” he said, per NBC.

2. Robert Mueller – The Justice Department veteran was appointed as special counsel after James Comey was fired as FBI director and has been moving quickly on his investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, Time noted.

3. Kim Jong Un – The North Korean dictator has managed to renew fears of nuclear war after engaging in a series of threats and insults with Trump while launching repeated intercontinental ballistic missile tests, Time noted.

4. Xi Jinping – China’s president officially became the country’s most powerful leader and his stature has been added to China's constitution, the Business Insider reported.

5. Colin Kaepernick – The former quarterback has dominated the headlines since becoming the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem as a form of protest against social and racial injustice, ultimately sparking a movement within the league, Bleacher Report reported. He has since been named “Citizen of the Year” by GQ magazine.

6. Jeff Bezos – This year saw the Amazon CEO officially become the richest man in the world more than once, based on his fluctuating stock valuation, Time noted.

7. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman – Saudi Arabia launched a massive crackdown on corruption under the leadership of the crown prince, Newsday noted.

8. Patty Jenkins – The “Wonder Woman” director paved the way for future women in the industry by becoming the first woman at the helm of a film that secured more than $100 million in its opening weekend, Time noted.

9. The Dreamers – Thousands of undocumented immigrants who were brought across the U.S. border as children, referred to as dreamers, face an uncertain future. The Washington Post described this group of immigrants as “a potent political force and the sympathetic public face of the immigration debate.”

10. #MeToo – The social media movement exploded after actress Alyssa Milano took to Twitter to encourage women who had been sexually assaulted or harassed to help shed light on the situation by using the hashtag. The Atlantic noted that, within 24 hours, the hashtag had been tweeted nearly half a million times and resulted in numerous women speaking out against high profile figures and Hollywood moguls.
