Susan Sarandon says supporters of Bernie Sanders will continue their push to get the Vermont senator in the White House and calls the scandal over the Democratic Party's secret plan to stop his candidacy "disgusting."

The Oscar-winning actress, along with fellow Hollywood liberals Danny Glover and Shailene Woodley, joined 1,000 protestors outside the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia Monday to promote their ongoing support for Sanders.

"Bernie has ignited a spark and we're not letting that go," Sarandon, star of "Thelma and Louise" and "Dead Man Walking,"  told The Young Turks, a liberal political reform movement.

"It's important to know that this army is going to continue, and we're not resting on anything on this election."

Of the leaked emails appearing to show former Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz plotting to destroy Sanders' presidential bid in favor of Hillary Clinton, Sarandon said:

"That's so disgusting ... You know, [Richard] Nixon resigned when they broke into the headquarters," Sarandon said.

"And now you find all this tampering going on ... I think we really have to ask what's happened to us, in terms of what we're willing to sacrifice to get our person in."

She added that the email shocker "doesn't come as a surprise" to her.

In March, Sarandon stunned her left-leaning fans by saying she might prefer Donald Trump to "bring the revolution" over Clinton if the general election came down to them as the two front-runners.

Criticizing Clinton's stance on issues such as fracking and the economy, Sarandon told MSNBC's Chris Hayes:

"She hasn't voted right, so what would make you think that once she gets in she's going to suddenly go against the people that have given her millions and millions of dollars? . . .  Some people feel Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately."

"If he gets in then things will really explode . . . The status quo is not working and I think it's dangerous to think that we can continue the way we are with the militarized police force . . . with the death penalty, with the low minimum wage, with threats to women's rights.

"And think that you can't do something huge to turn that around because the country is not in good shape. If you're in the middle class, it's disappearing."
