Anti-Semitic incidents in the United States skyrocketed by more than two-thirds from 2016 to 2017, a new report claims.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) looked over the numbers and concluded that anti-Semitic incidents from January through September are up 67 percent from the same time period in 2016.

There were 1,266 such incidents in all of 2016, but the 2017 figure through September had already reached 1,299. The first nine months of 2016 saw 779 incidents occur.

Other key findings in the report:

  • The number of harassment incidents climbed from 322 in the first nine months of 2016 to 703 in 2017.
  • The number of vandalism incidents rose from 428 to 584 in the same time period.
  • The number of assaults dropped from 29 to 12 in the same time period.
  • The harassment incidents this year include 162 bomb threats on Jewish organizations.
  • New York has seen the most incidents this year (267), followed by California (197), Massachusetts (117), Florida (69), and Pennsylvania (58).
  • There were 269 anti-Semitic incidents in schools from January through September this year, compared to 130 in the same period last year.
  • The rate of incidents from July 1-August 10 was 2.36 per day, but that figure rose to 4.3 per day after the deadly riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, which saw white supremacists clash with counter protesters.

"We are astonished and horrified by the rise in anti-Semitic harassment, incidents, and violence targeting our communities," ADL CEO and national director Jonathan Greenblatt said.

"While the tragedy in Charlottesville highlighted this trend, it was not an aberration. Every single day, white supremacists target members of the Jewish community — holding rallies in public, recruiting on college campuses, attacking journalists on social media, and even targeting young children."

Earlier this year, several bomb threats were called into Jewish community centers in several states.
