The two sons of an American who defected to North Korea are the stars of a propaganda video produced by a pro-North Korea media company based in the United States.

The brothers, whose names are Ted and James Dresnok but who go by their North Korean names of Hong Sun Chol and Hong Chol, talked about the United States' policy toward the communist nation in the lengthy video.

"I want to advise the U.S. to drop its hostile policy against North Korea," said Ted Dresnok, according to a translation in The Washington Post. "They've done enough wrong and now it's time for them to wake up from their delusions."

"The American Imperialists caused the division of the Korean peninsula," said James Dresnok, who is reportedly a member of the North Korean Army and is the equivalent of a captain.

The brothers were interviewed by Roh Kil-nam, a Korean-American who runs the Minjok Tongshin news service. The interview, reports the Post, took place in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang this month.

The Dresnok brothers are the sons of James Joseph Dresnok, who walked away from his U.S. military post in South Korea and defected to North Korea in 1962. He married a Romanian woman who had been abducted by North Korea — the regime does not allow foreigners to marry Koreans.

The Post reports that James Joseph Dresnok married another woman after his first wife died, and together they had a son as well.

A BBC documentary released in 2013 chronicled the story of James Joseph Dresnok, who has been a propaganda star for North Korea for decades. He even taught members of the Korean military English.

Another American who defected to North Korea after the Korean War, Charles Jenkins, was eventually released in 2004. According to a Business Insider story from 2014, he was courtmartialed, served a 25-day prison sentence, and resettled in Japan with his Japanese wife and two daughters.
