Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. is seen favorably by a majority of her constituents, but they don’t agree with her opposition to Amazon’s one-time plan to build a headquarters in Queens, a new Siena College poll reveals.
Here is how the poll of voters in New York’s 14th Congressional District breaks down:
- 52% have a favorable view of Ocasio-Cortez, while 33% have an unfavorable opinion of her.
- 48% say they would vote to re-elect her in 2020, compared to 39% who would not.
- 47% say she has been doing an excellent or good job while in Congress, while 42% rate her performance as fair or poor.
- 57% say it was bad for New York that Amazon canceled its plan to build a headquarters, while 32% say it was good.
- 41% says they are either strongly or somewhat in favor of the Green New Deal, compared to 20% who are either somewhat or strongly opposed to it.
- 75% are either somewhat or strongly in favor of Medicare for all citizens, while 20% are either somewhat or strongly opposed to it.
- 25% say they are a Democratic Socialist, compared to 70% who describe themselves in “some other way.”
The poll, conducted March 31 to April 4, surveyed 607 registered voters in New York’s 14th Congressional District. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.3 percentage points.
