Doctors were called to the home of former Israeli President Shimon Peres after he was experiencing chest pains, according to the Times of Israel.

An examination found he was suffering from an abnormal heart rhythm and after his heartbeat returned to normal, doctors decided against hospitalizing the 92-year-old former president.

Peres' personal physician was in attendance. Dr. Ralphi Walden is married to Peres' daughter, Tsvia, and is deputy director at Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv.

Peres served as president of Israel from 2007 to 2014. Although retired, he is active with the Peres Center for Peace, a nongovernmental group that promotes coexistence between Arabs and Jews. He was prime minister from 1984 to 1986, and served a few months in that role in 1995 and 1996 after the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin.

The Times of Israel reported that he is considered the last of Israel's founding fathers.

In a video that aired at the Democratic National Convention, a graphic featured a quote from Peres that supported Hillary Clinton.

It read: "She understands that peace calls for patience."

Peres has been treated for an irregular heartbeat before. He suffered a mild heart attack and was hospitalized in January.
