President Donald Trump's national security policy is about protecting the nation and everything the administration loves about the United States, but it won't be an apology tour, Sebastian Gorka, a former deputy assistant for the president, said Monday.

"The biggest thing about this document is that it is written by somebody — it's written by a team. It's going to be delivered by a man that loves this country," Gorka told Fox News' "Fox and Friends" about Trump's upcoming speech, being delivered Monday afternoon. "It actually uses that phrase. It talks about protecting the nation that we love."

At the same time, there are no apologies included, said Gorka, who told the program he has a copy of the strategy speech.

"We are not here to apologize," said Gorka, who left employment at the White House earlier this year and is now a Fox News contributor. "We are not going on apology tours. We don't think America is the new imperial power that needs taken down a peg or two. It's about protecting everything we love about this country."

The policy, added Gorka, who said he worked on the document, talks "truthfully about the risks we face," and it is not politically correct.

"We even have in there the phrase 'jihadi,' okay," he said. "You know, the political correctness of the last eight years is gone. We talk about Russia. We talk about China. We talk about the threat from illegal migration. You haven't seen anything like this for 20, 25 years."

In the document, Trump also makes clear that invading other people's countries and occupying them is "un-American," Gorka said.

"We don't do that," he said. "That's not who we are . . . it's a rejection of that kind of behavior."

But the document does note that there are other countries, "whether it's Russia invading the Ukraine, whether it's China with those fake islands, that wants to intimidate their neighbors, wants to displace America as a force for good in the world," Gorka said. "We're not going to let them."

The policy also promotes peace through strength, he said.

"It's peace through strength, so it's returning to that golden era of the [Ronald] Reagan attitude to the military," Gorka said. "Another thing is it's 'America first,' not America alone. We will stand by nations that share our Judeo Christian values, whether it's Israel, whether it's Poland, whoever it is."
