Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Saturday said some people in the media are “out to get” President Donald Trump, and criticized reporter April Ryan, claiming she was only “interested in personal fame.”

“There is definitely people with a personal agenda against this president and against conservatives,” Spicer said during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

“I think there are several of them that regardless of their personal bias, ideologically, … realize that they can make more money and more fame by being obnoxious and creating viral moments in the briefing room.”

Spicer slammed Ryan following a dispute between the American Urban Radio Networks reporter and press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

"By her own admission she's been in the briefing room for 21 years. And it's not just her [Ryan], but there's a lot of other reporters that because of the attention the briefing gets now have gotten newfound notoriety," Spicer said.

“Suddenly after April engaged in back and forth, she gets a CNN contract, as have many other reporters who have created sort of YouTube-viral moments, not because of the content of their reporting but because they became some kind of sensation through a back and forth. What that tells me is they are more interested in personal fame.”

Ryan during Thursday’s press briefing said Sanders was “blindsided” by comments Rudy Giuliani made on Fox News about a $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels by President Donald Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen.

“Well, with all due respect, you actually don’t know much about me in terms of what I feel and what I don't,” Sanders told Ryan.

Ryan later told the Washington Examiner she was being singled out.

"Why is it I'm asking similar types of questions like all the rest of the room [of reporters] but she’s coming at me that way?" Ryan asked in an interview Friday. "Why? What did I do differently than anyone?"
