Scaramucci: Trump's Foes Can't Win by Focusing on 'Lies'

It won't do Democrats any good to fight President Donald Trump by exposing his statements as lies, because he relies on the "politics of emotion," former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said Tuesday.

"He's using the totem of emotion and politics of symbolism to rally his base," Scaramucci, author of "Trump, the Blue Collar President," told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"If you want to beat the president, explaining his lies to people won't beat the president. . . He did something very unique in political history, in my opinion. He won the Republican Party against the Republican establishment and then he hijacked the base of the other party, the Democratic Party and moved it over to his side."

By calling everything Trump says a lie, that is missing the message the he's delivered to half of the United States, Scaramucci continued.

"Most people in blue collar neighborhoods, based on my experience, like him very much," said Scaramucci, "because he's a challenge to the status quo and the establishment.

"When you guys are upset about it and listing all the lies and trying to explain you can't get a tax cut done in 10 days, people almost happy about the fact that he is a wrecking ball inside of Washington and smashing into the establishment."

Further, one can call out Trump for his statements, added Scaramucci, but "it's like literally Teflon in a frying pan. I'm not saying lying is appropriate. The lying or whatever he says, you're not going to penetrate him unless you change the game plan in terms of the advocacy against him."
