Scaramucci: WH Press Secretary Grisham Showed NHL Toughness at DMZ

Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci Monday praised new press secretary Stephanie Grisham for her tough stance in North Korea after she got into a scuffle with security guards who were trying to block the White House press pool from a room where President Donald Trump and North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un were meeting.

"I was thinking about if the [New York] Rangers had forwards like that we would have won the Stanley Cup," Scaramucci said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "Stephanie, you're awesome...first couple days on the job and she's also trying to help the American press get into the room. I mean, just an awesome performance by her right there."

Scaramucci said that despite the "antagonism" the press has for Trump, "you can see what Stephanie is trying to do there is to make it open and make it fair."

Trump, meanwhile, is "arguably the most transparent president in the last 35 years," said Scaramucci, commenting on whether Grisham will restore the daily White House press briefings.

"You're talking to the president of the United States every time he leaves the White House," said Scaramucci. "I mean, would you rather talk to the president of the United States directly or his press secretary?"

Scaramucci also praised Trump for his historic meeting with Kim in the demilitarized zone.

"They can say whatever they want about the president, but the guy is trying to forge peace with North Korea," he said. "If you don't like the fact he stepped over the border too bad...he's a rules breaker and he's the guy that's trying to create peace, so I don't understand what the issue could be with them."
