Saudi Arabia, which prohibits public protests, has launched a Facebook page for registering its citizens' complaints and concerns about the government, the National Journal reports. But even that forum constrains speech by limiting the use of the wall designed for posting of comments viewable by everyone.
People can ask to sign up as a friend of the page. But actual complaints must be e-mailed or faxed to an ombudsman, the chief of the Saudi royal court, with the complainant’s full name and phone number included.
Other than that, Saudi Arabia's highest judicial officer promises a forum “with no barriers.” The page had 3,780 members as of Wednesday afternoon.
