Trump Praises Sarah Sanders For Fox News Debut

By    |   Friday, 06 September 2019 11:21 AM

President Donald Trump Friday praised former press secretary Sarah Sanders for her first appearance as a Fox News contributor, after she praised his record on jobs and the economy and mocked his Democratic challengers for saying "stupid" things.

"Great interview of Sarah Sanders by @foxandfriends. She is a terrific person with a great future!" Trump tweeted. Thursday night, the president also promoted Sanders' debut through Twitter.

Sanders on Friday, in response to a new report showing U.S. job growth had slowed more than expected in August, praised Trump and his administration, saying there is "no question" that they have "turned the country around."

"We are doing better under this president than we have done in the previous eight years," Sanders said.

But her words weren't so kind for Democrats after she was asked about the policies the candidates discussed during a CNN town hall on climate change this week

"The things that are coming out of Democrats’ mouths these days, I can’t even process it they’re so stupid," Sanders said, to applause from a live audience of New York City first responders attending the show.

Sanders left the White House earlier this summer after serving about two years. She said on Friday she loved her former job but she still gets attacked in public, particularly by women.

"I am only the third woman and the first mom to ever be the White House press secretary, and yet women attack me relentlessly," she said."They still see me as somebody who is a very pro-Trump supporter. I'm not going to change my position. It would be very odd to go from doing what I was doing to all of a sudden doing something very different."
