The son of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin attacked his father over the weekend while "freaking out" after taking an unknown medication, it was reported Monday.

Track Palin was arrested Saturday night and charged with felony burglary, assault in the fourth degree, and criminal mischief.

The Anchorage Daily News cited a court document that claims Palin herself called the police to the family home in Wasilla, Alaska and said her 28-year-old son was "freaking out and was on some type of medication."

Track reportedly came to his parents' house to pick up a truck, but his father Todd had earlier told him not to come because he had been drinking and was on pain medication. Track, according to the police officer who wrote the court document, then threatened to go to the house and assault his father.

When Track did show up, Todd said he retrieved a pistol to "protect his family" and went to the door.

From there, Track allegedly broke through a window next to the door and attacked his father, hitting him in the head several times as he was on the ground. The police report cited by the Daily News claimed Todd was bleeding from his head in several places.

Sarah and Todd Palin were able to escape the house and were leaving the property in separate vehicles when local police arrived, according to the report. Track was inside the house and had to be talked outside by police.

He eventually surrendered, police said, and he was taken into custody.

Track, according to the court document, told police he broke the window next to the door after his father tapped it with his gun.

"Track stated he then went through the broken window and disarmed Todd and put him on the ground," the court document reads. "While Track had Todd on the ground he started hitting Todd in the head. Todd was able to get away from Track and get out of the residence."

Sarah Palin served as Alaska governor from 2006 to 2009 and was the Republican vice presidential nominee in the 2008 election.

In January 2016, Track Palin was arrested on domestic charges.
