Former Vice President Joe Biden is only a "temporary" front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, and he'll have to answer for the failures of his years in the White House with President Barack Obama, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Tuesday.
"He is well-known around the country," McDaniel told Fox News' "America's Newsroom," when asked about Biden's high standing in national polls. "He has not faced any tough questions and certainly hasn't hit the debate stage with the other 20 candidates that are going to be gunning for him."
The real questions, though, will come because of his role in the Obama White House, particularly on foreign policy.
"We have seen recently that Joe Biden has no understanding of foreign policy when he says that China is not a competitor of ours," said McDaniel. "We already saw many missteps through the Obama/Biden administration calling ISIS the JV team, and he said don't go after Osama bin Laden. We saw inaction with Syria when they crossed that red line. We saw their inaction on the Russia meddling. Biden doesn't have a great record when it comes to foreign policy and that among many other things will be vetted through this process."
McDaniel also Tuesday said she thinks it's "shameful" that 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton complained last weekend that the election was "stolen" from her.
"It is sad that Hillary Clinton cannot accept the loss that she brought on upon herself," said McDaniel. "I was the state party chair in Michigan. She never traveled to our state. She didn't go to Wisconsin one time during that election. She was a failure of a candidate running on a failing message."
