Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says a “vast left-wing conspiracy” in the media has joined forces with the campaign of President Barack Obama to beat back his challenge.
“There will be an effort by the quote vast left-wing conspiracy to work together to put out their message and to attack me,” Romney said in an interview with
Breitbart.com. "Many in the media are inclined to do the president's bidding, and I know that's an uphill battle we fight with the media generally."
The media and the Obama campaign are “going to do everything they can to divert from the issue people care about, which is a growing economy that creates more jobs and rising incomes,” Romney said. “The Democrats know that given the president’s record over the last 3 and a half years, they can’t run on that record. Therefore they’ll try to make this race about anything but the president’s record and the economy.’
But that effort will fail, Romney says. “You know what, people will come back and say, we’re not stupid. It’s about the economy.”
Breitbart.com host Larry O’Connor suggested that some non-profit organizations, such as Media Matters, might be illegally coordinating with the Obama campaign. “If people are bending or breaking the law then we’re going to have to focus on that and do something about that,” Romney responded.
