PPP Poll: Holding Convention in Florida Didn’t Help Romney

By    |   Monday, 03 September 2012 01:26 PM EDT

Holding the Republican National Convention in Tampa didn't give Mitt Romney that post-convention bump in Florida polls, Politico reported.

According to the latest Public Policy Polling poll, the race in the Sunshine State is virtually tied after last week's GOP convention, with President Barack Obama leading Romney 48-47, unchanged from the same poll five weeks ago, Politico reported.

In the poll, 33 percent of voters say the Tampa convention made them more likely to vote for Republicans, 33 percent said it made them less likely to vote for Republicans, and 34 percent said it didn't make a difference to them either way.

Romney’s favorability numbers improved, however, with 49 percent of voters having a positive opinion of him to 47 percent with a negative one, which is up 5 points from late July, when his breakdown was 46 favorable to 49 unfavorable, Politico reported.
