President Donald Trump's former political adviser Roger Stone might have violated a gag order that a court imposed on him less than two weeks ago with an Instagram post he put up over the weekend, the HuffPost reported Monday.
Stone, who is due to stand trial on charges in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia election investigation, posted a "Roger Rabbit"-style photo illustration on his Instagram story suggesting he had been framed. It appears Stone later deleted the photo, although pictures posted on Instagram, in any case, disappear after 24 hours.
Stone has pleaded not guilty to charges of witness tampering, obstruction of justice, and lying to Congress.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson had specifically forbade him from posting anything on Instagram about his case after Stone Instagrammed a photo of her head with crosshairs alongside it.
Stone later called that photo a mistake.
The gag order bars Stone from "making statements to the media or in public settings about the special counsel's investigation or this case or any of the participants in the investigation or the case," according to CNBC.
The gag also includes "posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other form of social media."
Jackson had warned Stone she could order him jailed without bail until his trial if he violated the order.
Stone could also be in trouble with the judge for his soon-to-be-released book about the Mueller case after Berman ordered his lawyers Friday to explain why they did not tell her about the book, HuffPost reported.
