Former Republican Sen. Rick Santorum announced Tuesday he will work for CNN as a political commentator.

Santorum revealed the news on his Twitter feed:

 

 

Earlier Tuesday, the ex-Pennsylvania lawmaker he tweeted that he was going to make "a big announcement soon."

Santorum, according to The Hill, joins a host of other new contributors to the cable network. Former New York Rep. Steve Israel former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, both Democrats, will also work in political analyst roles.

In addition, four print journalists — David Fahrenthold and Wesley Lowery of The Washington Post, J.D. Vance of National Review, and Salena Zito of the Washington Examiner — have signed on as contributors.

Santorum served in the House from 1991-1995 and then in the Senate from 1995-2007. He unsuccessfully ran for president in 2012 and 2016.
