The GOP head of the Senate Intelligence Committee says after two years of investigation, the panel still has not found evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

In an interview with CBS News, Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., asserted, "I don't think we've got any rock that we haven't turned over, regardless of, geographically, where it's located."

To date, the committee has interviewed more than 200 witnesses and reviewed more than 300,000 pages of documents; it has held more than a dozen public hearings and released two interim reports, CBS News reported.

"If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don't have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia," he told CBS News.

Burr made similar remarks to Fox News last September, saying the panel had not found any "hard evidence" of collusion, though new information could still come to light.

He told CBS News his past assessment was "accurate with everything we've accumulated since then."

The House Intelligence Committee concluded its parallel probe last year. Republicans on the committee also determined there was not any evidence of collusion — a conclusion Democrats on the committee disputed.

Burr added his committee's results probably will not persuade hardliners on the right or the left.

"I'm speaking to what I hope is the 60 percent in the middle that are saying, 'Give me the facts that I need to make a determination in this one particular instance — what happened.' And that's what our focus is," he said.
