A leaked British Army document has sparked fears that Russia is using Ukraine as a staging ground to practice high-tech warfare tactics to be used against the West, the Daily Mirror reports.

Specifically, practice "new methods of warfare as well as testing modern and prohibited weapons," according to the report.

Tactics the Russians are prepping, include jamming enemy radio signals that could render drones unusable and threaten GPS-guided weapons and NATO aircraft.

The Mirror reports the Russians are also honing age-old propaganda warfare using modern technology — texting, social media — to spread disinformation and panic before an attack.

Ultimately, the concern is that Russia President Vladimir Putin is planning to reprise the Cold War.

"The difference is there is no ideology," one Russia expert told the Mirror. "It is a return to the imperial competition of the 19th century."
