Reince Priebus: Hillary's 'Coronation' Bodes Well for GOP Nominee

Now that Joe Biden isn't running for the Democratic presidential nomination, there will likely be a "coronation on their side of the aisle" for Hillary Clinton, and that bodes well for the eventual GOP nominee, Reince Priebus said Wednesday.

"I thought that Joe Biden would have been tougher for us in a general election," the Republican National Committee chairman told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program.

"I think he is far more likeable and obviously people, even today, will say that Hillary Clinton is someone that can't be trusted."

And that skepticism will benefit Republicans, Priebus said, as will many of her talking points on the economy, social programs, and the "war on women" idea.

But the reality is that women are no better off now than they were when President Barack Obama took office, he continued, nor are Hispanics or African-Americans.

"In fact, [things] are worse for the middle class; they're worse for people across the country," said Priebus.

And people will ask if Clinton is the kind of person who can turn the country around, he continued, and "right now, people don't believe that she is." Further, he said that as a former secretary of state, she represents a third term of President Obama, which will represent a problem for her.

"It will be up to us too, to provide better vision for this country," said Priebus. "We'll do a better job turning out the vote, having better data and digital engagement plan than we did four years ago. We'll have to be better everywhere in order to win. That is our intention."

On Wednesday, Priebus also responded to the news about aides for candidates Rand Paul and Chris Christie complaining about their greenroom accommodations in Colorado for Wednesday night's debate.

"Look, we have 14 candidates," said Priebus. "This is an athletic facility. It is not quite a jacuzzi. It is a locker room. They're doing everything they can to space off places for all the candidates."

He said he had a beer Tuesday night with one of Paul's campaign managers, and "he is perfectly fine" with the greenroom situation, and that the matter is resolved.

"I think we've got bigger problems than worrying about greenrooms," he told show host Martha MacCallum.
