Preet Bharara, the former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York fired earlier this year by President Donald Trump, is set to announce on Monday that he is joining his younger brother’s media company, Some Spider Studios, The New York Times reported on Sunday.
He will become an executive vice president at Some Spider, which his brother Vinit Bharara started in 2014, saying that he was drawn to the company because it would allow him a platform to raise issues of justice and hold people accountable.
As U.S. attorney, he prosecuted politicians from both major parties and earned a reputation for aggressively going after insider trading on Wall Street.
Vinit Bharara acknowledged that he hoped the hiring of his brother will give more recognition to Some Spider, which he said will have more than $12 million in revenue this year and double that in 2018.
Since being fired by Trump in March, Preet Bharara has remained busy, having joined the New York University School of Law as a distinguished scholar in residence.
Last week, Alfred Knopf announced that Bharara was working on a book about the "search for justice" that would come out in 2019. The New York Post reported.
After being fired, Bharara said the president had tried to cultivate a relationship with him, potentially compromising his independence, calling the conversations "weird and peculiar."
Bharara also has plans to host a podcast called “Stay Tuned With Preet,” a title recalling one of his trademark phrases during press conferences. The podcast is scheduled to begin airing in the next few months and will explore issues of justice and fairness, as well as providing analysis on legal cases.
