Poll: Trump Leads Carson By Double Digits in Nev., SC

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump holds double-digit leads over challenger Ben Carson in South Carolina and Nevada — and voters in both states said that Trump was best able to address a wide range of issues, according to a new CNN/ORC poll.

The results:

In South Carolina:
  • Donald Trump: 36 percent
  • Ben Carson: 18 percent
  • Marco Rubio: 9 percent
  • Carly Fiorina: 7 percent
  • Jeb Bush: 6 percent
  • Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz: 5 percent
  • Rand Paul: 4 percent
  • Mike Huckabee: 3 percent
  • Chris Christie: 2 percent
  • All other candidates: 1 percent or less

Four percent had no opinion of the candidates, while 1 percent said they would not vote for any of the contenders.

In Nevada:
  • Trump: 38 percent
  • Carson: 22 percent
  • Fiorina: 8 percent
  • Rubio: 7 percent
  • Bush: 6 percent
  • Cruz and Huckabee: 4 percent
  • Rand Paul: 2 percent
  • All other candidates: 1 percent or less
Three percent had no opinion of any of the candidates, while another 3 percent said that they would not vote for any of them.

South Carolina will hold its Republican primary on Feb. 20, while Nevada's caucuses are scheduled for Feb. 23. They are third and fourth, respectively, on the primary schedule.

In Nevada, 1,011 adults were surveyed in the CNN/ORC poll between Oct. 3 and last Saturday, with a margin of error of 3 percent.

The South Carolina poll involved 1,009 adults who were questioned during the same period, with a similar margin of error.
