While Democrats and anti-Trump forces are relentlessly attacking, investigating, and indicting former President Donald Trump, the latest Morning Consult poll released Tuesday shows it has only strengthened him.
"Trump's criminal charges are breaking through," pollster Eli Yokley wrote in his analysis.

Trump has expanded his advantage on the growing 2024 Republican presidential primary field to his largest lead yet in the Morning Consult survey after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's 34-count arraignment for falsifying business records only proved to buoy Trump's case to the American people.
"That 33-percentage-point lead over the past several days marks Trump's largest since Morning Consult's tracking of the hypothetical matchup began in December," according to Yokley's analysis.
A majority of potential GOP primary voters choose Trump (56%), showing the former president is well out in front in the race:
- Trump: 56%
- Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis: 23%
- Former Vice President Mike Pence: 7%
- Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley: 4%
- Former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo.: 3%
- Texas Gov. Greg Abbott: 1%
- Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy: 1%
- Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo: 1%
- South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem: 1%
- Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.: 1%
- Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson: 1%

Notably, the poll gave credence to the old adage there is no such thing as bad press, according to Yokley.
"Potential Republican primary voters were 27 points more likely to hear something negative than positive about Trump recently, marking his worst showing in the buzz metric, even as he's gained support and his favorability rating has ticked up following his New York City arraignment," Yokley wrote.
The larger GOP primary field helps Trump separate himself as the also-rans split the anti-Trump vote and Trump's rock-solid MAGA base stays loyal.
"Polls are looking great!" Trump hailed on Truth Social this weekend. "New Poll, 61-19 against DeSanctimonious. Also, winning BIG against 'Hopeless' Joe Biden — hence the Democrats are rolling out their fake prosecutors. I hope Republican leaders are watching this. An eye for an eye?"
Hutchinson, the most recent addition to the race and one of the fiercest Trump critics in the Republican Party, did not make a dent.
"Hutchinson doesn't make much of a splash," Yokley wrote. "Nearly 7 in 10 potential Republican primary voters (68%) didn't hear much about former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson's announcement that he would seek the GOP's 2024 nomination last week.
"Just 1% of potential GOP primary voters said they would vote for him if the 2024 GOP nominating contest in their state were held today, and just about a third of them have formed opinions about him — ranking his awareness alongside that of entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy."
The Morning Consult survey was conducted April 7-9 among 3,608 potential Republican primary voters. The results have a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
