The U.S.-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement would pass in the House and Senate if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would bring it up for a vote, Vice President Mike Pence said in an interview airing Thursday.

“It so much comes down to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who I believe has been dealing with our administration in good faith on this issue,” Pence told FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo for "Mornings with Maria." “The president has spoken to her on many occasions on the subject of the USMCA and I've spoken to her about it.”

He added that the administration will continue to speak with Pelosi, but he believes that if she puts the USMCA on the vote, it will pass and "the American people are going to have a tremendous win for our economy."

Pence said he was encouraged to hear Pelosi referring to the deal this week as it being neither a Democratic Bill or a Republican one.

"It has something for everybody," said Pence. "It'll be a great American trade deal."

"I watched President Trump drive a hard bargain and all along the way whether it was American businesses, manufacturing, automotive, whether it was American agriculture especially dairy, this president demanded that this trade deal really put American workers in the city and on the farm first," said Pence. "As our elected representatives examine this trade agreement, they'll see that President Trump negotiated a real win for America."

He also said U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lightheizer has been doing a "phenomenal job" working with lawmakers to advance the trade agreement.
