Pence: Booming US Economy Shown in New Jobs Report

By    |   Friday, 07 February 2020 11:45 AM

The United States is in the middle of a "booming" economy under President Donald Trump, including a jobs report that reflects 225,000 jobs and more people coming into the workforce, Vice President Mike Pence said Friday.

"We've rebuilt our military," Pence told CNBC. "We've appointed a record number of judges to our federal courts of appeals. We're respected in the world again."

The labor participation is thanks to "Trump's leadership in cutting taxes, rolling back regulations, and unleashing American energy," said pence, in addition to securing historic trades deals, the USMCA, phase one of the trade deal with China and more.

The vice president, also appearing on Fox Business Friday, told Stuart Varney that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's denials that there is a blue-collar bloom in the economy are false claims.

"The labor participation rate continues to rise," he told Varney, adding that under former President Barack Obama, the administration tried to "tax and regulate" the nation into growth. "Wages are rising across the board rapidly but most rapidly for hard-working blue-collar Americans," said Pence. "After eight years of the last administration, that thought we could tax and borrow and bail our way back to a growing economy," Pence said on CNBC. "This president put common sense American principles into work and used what he in Davos called the American model, a free-market model of fewer taxes, less regulation, more affordable energy, and fair trade and the American economy is booming," said Pence.

In addition, the nation saw its national debt double, under Obama, but the economy remained stagnant at 2% or lower growth, said Pence.

"It was the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression," he added, but Trump came into office and insisted that growth must be restored.

"We'll end the next year in the 3% range, which is what President Trump said back on the campaign trail in 2016."

Meanwhile, if elected to a second term, Trump will continue to work on the nation's deficit issues.

"President Trump really believes the real long-term solution is making sure the budget of every American is growing," said Pence. "After-tax tax income for working families has actually increased by $5,000 a year in the last three years."
