Republican congressman Patrick McHenry is hosting two blood drives this week in honor of hospitalized Steve Scalise and the others wounded last week in the shooting in Virginia, Politico reported.
McHenry of North Carolina and the chief deputy majority whip, is hosting the drives in Rep. Scalise's honor Tuesday and Thursday.
Both will take place on Capitol Hill.
In a letter obtained by Politico, McHenry also is honoring Capitol Hill police officer Cyrstal Griner, who was shot in the ankle, as well as lobbyist Matt Mika, who remains hospitalized after getting shot several times in the chest.
McHenry is Scalise's friend as well as right-hand vote counter.
