Two coaches, who worked as security monitors, have been barred from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and reassigned after a critical report about their responses to the February mass shooting, according to the SunSentinel.

"Due to information that has recently appeared in the media and which is being reviewed by the district, Andrew Medina and David Taylor have received administrative reassignments away from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School until further notice," Broward Schools spokeswoman Nadine Drew said.

An unarmed Medina was the first person to see accused shooter Nikolas Cruz walk on campus, the newspaper reported. Medina did not stop him or lock down the school. Instead, he radioed to Taylor that a suspicious person was headed his way, the newspaper reported.

Taylor, who was not armed, reportedly heard gunfire in the building where he was and hid in a janitor's closet.

Seventeen people were killed in the attack and another 14 injured.

Tracy Clark, another school board spokeswoman, said the two would no longer be allowed on the school's campus and have been reassigned to undisclosed administration locations.

Andrew Pollack, whose daughter, Meadow, was killed in the attack, had complained to school officials about Medina.

"I went up there and took care of it," Pollack said. "He's not going to work there anymore."

He said if Medina had signaled a Code Red the school would have been locked down.

"All he had to say was 'Code Red.' Two words … those two words and he didn't call it and 17 people are dead because of it," Pollack said.

And CBS Miami is reporting that in a sworn statement to investigators, Medina said he saw Cruz on campus before the shooting. He referred to him as the "crazy boy," the television station said.
