Jihadist-Taunting Pam Geller: 'I Am Liberal on Social Issues'

By    |   Thursday, 11 June 2015 10:31 PM

Political activist Pamela Geller generally has conservative-leaning views, but she admits to being a social liberal.

Geller made the admission in an interview with Mediaite.

"I am liberal on social issues," Geller said.

Geller also spoke about comments South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham made last weekend in Iowa regarding Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner.

Jenner's transition from a man to a woman came after he said he's a Republican, to which Graham, a Republican running for president, said Jenner is "welcome in my party."

"I have not walked in her shoes and I don't have all the answers to the mysteries of life, and I can only imagine the torment Bruce Jenner went through," Graham said. "I hope he's — I hope she has found peace.... If Caitlyn Jenner wants to be a Republican, she is welcome in my party."

Geller told Mediaite she is in line with Graham's feeling on the issue.

"I don't agree with Graham on much, but his point was sound in this," Geller said.

Geller said she thinks the media slaps the "extremist" label on her because she is a woman.

"It must be said that [the media] are little better with my male colleagues who share my views," Geller said.

"I am working in defense of freedom. If the media thinks that is 'extreme,' it reflects poorly on them, not on me."

Last week, police in Boston confirmed Geller, who is outspoken about Islamic terrorism, was the intended target of two men who were also planning to kill police officers. One of the men was shot and killed by police and the other one was arrested.

Geller spoke about the situation in an interview with CNN, saying, "I am fine, or as well as can be expected. They are coming after me for violating the Sharia, violating the blasphemy laws, and they mean to come after everybody that doesn't abide by, voluntarily, the blasphemy laws under the Islamic law."

Geller was the organizer of a Texas event in early May that held a "Draw the Prophet Muhammad" contest. Two self-described jihadists tried to enter the building in which the contest was being held, but they were shot dead by a security guard after they opened fire at him.

Geller said this week the winning drawing from the event is now being displayed on 100 billboards across St. Louis.
