Carter Page: FBI Document News 'More of the Same'

By    |   Friday, 22 November 2019 03:07 PM

The FBI has been "falsifying documents and providing false testimony" in the courts of law for years, former Trump campaign staffer Carter Page said Friday, adding he does not find reports that an FBI employee allegedly altered a document for a surveillance warrant surprising.

"This is more of the same," Page, a foreign policy adviser for President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign, told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo. "We've known these things are wrong for a long time but the fake news and the Democrats keep pushing this false narrative."

The FBI official, an attorney, is under criminal investigation after allegedly altering a document used in obtaining a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant against Page. The finding is expected to be included in Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz's review of the agency's efforts.

Horowitz will release the report Dec. 9, and testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee two days later.

Page was only with the Trump campaign a short time in 2016 before resigning after he was accused of spying, and thinks Democrats and the media had been putting out fake news about him, that was used by the FBI to justify its plan to conduct surveillance on him in order to serve him with a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant.

"I think they wanted to do much more than that too," Page said. "Most importantly, and the main reason they were doing it is they wanted to dirty up then-candidate Trump and the entire Trump campaign. It really was a dark cloud hanging over the campaign until the election in November of 2016, through the transition and going on years now into the early years of President Trump's first administration."

Page was never charged with wrongdoing, and he said that's because "there is no evidence whatsoever because I never did anything wrong. (I'm as) clean as a whistle."

However, he said the issue has affected his life, and he's gotten death threats. Page said the matter has been an ordeal for the country, though.

"I look at it from the big picture perspective," said Page. "I look at the damage it's done to President Donald Trump, his administration."
